I am a Soldier
Home Up

What manner of life do we tread

                                                                    Onward to lands less traveled

Men never met tell me where to go

Policies I never wrote do I defend

My hands are bloodied from the cold

My face burnt from the wind

Skin chapped and swollen

Chafed from the unfriendly terrain

Memories of home haunt my dreams

Last rites to happiness carry me farther

My life a chaotic restless fight

I, a soldier, never alone

I fight the causes of my leaders

Tomorrow a new day rising in the East

Yesterday now a burning past

But for today my duty I carry

For I, a soldier, silent and strong

Never ask of tomorrow

And yesterday I try to forget
